Bank official among two held for bribery

Members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday arrested two people, including an official of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB), for taking bribe from a loan customer at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali.

The arrestees were identified as Hafiz Ullah, a BKB official of Kadirpur Branch, and its night guard Ahsan Ullah.

Talebur Rahman, deputy director of Noakhali unit ACC, said that an anonymous person submitted a written complaint against Hafiz Ullah, who demanded Tk 8,000 as bribe for a loan of Tk 80,000.

On Wednesday, bank official Hafiz got the money collected by night guard Ahsan from the loan customer to enable the loan provision, reports UNB.

Immediately afterwards, a team of ACC went to the bank and caught Hafiz and Ahsan with the bribe money.
