Bagerhat, one of the popular tourist destinations of the country, attracted a huge number of visitors with its historical sites and magnificent beauty in this Eid vacation as in previous years.

While the people of all age have been crowding the tourist spots and recreation centres in the district to enjoy the vacation, the Sundarbans department is also passing a busy time to maintain the crowd.

With its historical archaeological significance and the natural charm of the largest mangrove of the Sundarbans, Bagerhat attracts visitors from across the country and abroad throughout the year. But during the Eid vacation, the volume of keen travellers increases by many folds.

Visitors, mostly from Bagerhat and the districts nearby, started visiting the places from the day of Eid-ul- Azha on Wednesday to enjoy the vacation with friends, families and near and dear ones.

Among the main attractions of the district, there are Sat Gombuj Mosque (Sixty-dome Mosque), Khan Jahan Ali's mazar, Ajodha Math and the Sundarbans.

Visitors are also visiting different resorts and parks such as Sundarbans Resort in Barakpur, Dasani Children Park, Nagerbazar Municipality Park and Chulkathi Chandra Mahal.

Authorities are hopeful that these tourist spots will remain abuzz with tourists till the last day of the vacation.

Also experiencing history through visiting the historical sites, a good number of visitors are going to the Sundarbans, a Unesco world heritage site, Karamjal and Katka wildlife sanctuary to enjoy the bare touch of nature by boat.

Anwar Hossain, a visitor who came to visit the Shatgambuj Mosque from Khulna on the Eid day said that he came along with his family members to enjoy the vacation visiting the historical place.

The architectural beauty has amazed him and his family and it developed a curiosity to know more about the 600-year-old site, he said.

Imam of the Sat Gambuj Mosque Helal Uddin said people from all walks of life and religions visit the place and the crowd increases especially during the Eid vacation.

Children were also found enjoying rides, visiting different parks with their parents and watching different animals, including deer, crocodiles, pythons and monkeys kept inside the zoo.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Sundarbans East Division M Mahmudul Hasan said the number of visitors coming to the Sundarbans in this Eid vacation is much more than that of last Eid-ul-Fitr.

Due to the huge number of visitors, the forest department has beefed up security measures to ensure the safety of tourists, said the DFO adding that the tourists are roaming in Karamjal, Harbaria and Kalagachhia areas.

The crowd is expected to remain till Saturday, he said, reports UNB.

The resorts and parks have also taken extra measures for attracting visitors, said Zakir Hossain, Manager of Sundarbans Resort.
