MAGURA: Corona incentive and adequate rainfall have helped the Magura jute growers achieve a bumper production.
Jute is very close to be harvested in the district. Adequate rainfall in the district this season also played a vital role for good prodution. Moreover, corona incentive has helped the growers to boost jute production.
Department of agriculture extension (DAE) Magura sources informed, a total of 35450 hectares of land have been brought under jute cultivation in the district this season . 340,090 bales of jute are expected to be produced in the district this season . The total rainfall in the district for the last four months from April 1 to July 18 was 640 mm. A total of 5000 jute growers were provided with corona incentive. All these have made Magura jute growers optimistic over bumper production
Muraduddouola, a jute grower of village Jagla under Magura sadar upazila told this correspondent , this year I have brought my three bighas of land under jute cultivation . Due to adequate rainfall I did not irrigate my land. Moreover, as incentive we have got seeds at free of cost and loan facility at small interest rate. For this our production cost is much more lower compared to that of last year. On the other hand, we are expecting a bumper production .
Another jute grower Golam Akber of village Dhorla said, 'I have brought my three bighas of land under jute cultivation this season. As the district is experiencing adequate rainfall this season and we have got quality seeds as incentive, I am expecting a bumper production this year .Moreover, sufficient water stored in waterbodies caused by adequate rrainfall will be helpful in rotting our jute .
When contacted, Magura DAE official Shohrab Hossen said, favourable weather and corona incentive have made Magura jute growers optimistic over bumper yield .
