Police have found and arrested missing Kalyan Party Secretary General MM Aminur Rahman, nearly four months after his missing.
The leader of the BNP-allied party went missing on the night of Aug 27 while travelling from his house in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan to another house in Savar.
Party leaders suspected the government had played a role in his disappearance.
Police located Rahman after tracking his mobile phone to Dhaka’s Shahjadpur Pragati Sharani around 11:40pm on Friday night, police said.
According to bdnews 24, he was then arrested over a case filed at the Gulshan Police Station,” Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Nazmul Alam. The case cites allegations of subversive activities against him.
The reason for his disappearance has not been verified.
Those who returned home after weeks or months in captivity say they were abducted for ransom.
