Police, in their special drives arrested a total of 84 people from two districts of the country in the last 24 hours.
Of them, 42 were held from eight upazilas of Satikhira district in the last 12-hour period ending at 8:00 am on Saturday, while another 42 were detained from different areas of seventeen upazilas in Cumilla region from Friday to Saturday.
In Satkhira, sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
Satkhira Sadar police reportedly arrested 12 people, Kalaroa Thana police arrested five, Tala Thana police arrested four, Kaliganj Thana police arrested five, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested three, Assasuni Thana police arrested seven suspects, Patkelghata Thana police arrested four and Debhata police arrested two people, according to BSS.
The arrestees are accused in several cases, including charges of subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district. They were all sent to jail.
In Cumilla, separate teams of police conducted drives in the upazilas and arrested them, according to the office of Superintendent of Cumilla Police, reports UNB.
Among the arrestees, four are accused in drug cases, four in regular cases, while rest in other cases.
