The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a regular anti-narcotics drive arrested 40 suspects from the city over selling and consuming illegal drugs.
Different police stations under DMP conducted the drive and arrested the suspected drug abusers from different areas of the capital in the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am on Saturday.
During the drive, the DMP seized 425 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 180 grams heroin, 305 grams cannabis, 312 bottles of phensedyl syrup, 10 litres of local alcohol and 17 other drug items, according to a DMP statement.
A total of 30 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
