Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said the government of India will continue to have cooperation with Bangladesh as a close neighbour.

She called Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Tuesday and congratulated him on his victory in the 11th National Parliament Election.

The Indian Minister hoped to work together with Foreign Minister Ali in future, news agency UNB reported on Wednesday, citing the Foreign Ministry.

Both the ministers co-chair the Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) to coordinate sectorial collaboration between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Ali thanked Indian External Affairs Minister for the call.

He expressed the hope that both the countries would continue to work together for the benefit of the people of the two neighbouring countries.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller met Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Wednesday morning and discussed various issues of mutual interest.

The Ambassador, however, did not talk to the press after the meeting.
