Commissioner Kabita says EC won’t hold any questionable poll

The present Election Commission (EC) does not want to hold any questionable election, said Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam on Sunday.

She said, "No anomaly will be allowed in Boda municipal election slated to be held on December 28. Alongside the law enforcers, executive magistrates are conducting the mobile courts to check the anomalies in the polls."

The Commissioner came up with the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with candidates and local administration at Boda Upazila Parishad auditorium in Panchagarh.

According to UNB, she said the EC will take proper action against the use of illegal money and muscle power if it receives any specific allegation in this regard.

Chaired by deputy commissioner of the district Amal Krishna Mondal, the views-exchange meeting was addressed, among others, by EC deputy secretary Matiur Rahman, police super Giasuddin Ahmed, returning officer Shahidul Islam, Awami League mayoral candidate adv Wahiduzzaman Suja and BNP mayoral contestant Hakikul Islam.

Boda Municipality is going to its maiden polls after 17 years of its formation.
