Comilla Medical College closed after BCL clash

Comilla Medical College authorities declared the institution closed until January 11 following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Friday.

At least 10 students were injured in the clash.

Principal of the medical college Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury said a clash between two groups of BCL activists broke out around 2 am over establishing supremacy on the campus.

Among the injured, Toufiq was admitted to Square Hospital in Dhaka while Ifran to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital with severe injuries.

Five other injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College and Hospital.

Most of the students have left their dormitories as the authorities earlier asked them to leave those by 2pm on Friday.

UNB says, additional police were deployed on the campus to avert further trouble.
