Collision with Padma Bridge pillar: BIWTC forms probe committee

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) on Tuesday has formed a five-member committee to probe into the collision of a Ro-Ro ferry with a pillar of the Padma Bridge.

The committee has been asked to submit the report to the BIWTC chairman within three days, according to a statement issued by the shipping ministry on Tuesday.

BIWTC Director (Technical) Md Rashedul Islam has been made the convener of the committee.

The other members of the committee are BIWTC GM (Marine) Captain Muhammad Hashemur Rahman Chowdhury, BIWTA Director (Naval Conservation and Management) M Shahjahan, AGM (Engineering) Md Rubeluzzaman and AGM (Marine) Ahmed Ali.

BIWTC issued an office order in this regard on Monday night, the statement said.
