Cold wave to likely sweep over Bangladesh until Saturday

The sweeping cold wave may persist in some parts of Bangladesh until Saturday, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Abdul Mannan, a meteorologist at BMD told The Financial Express on Thursday that a mild cold snap will likely sweep over some parts of the country in next two to three days.

Today’s the lowest minimum temperature of 7.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tetulia.

A Met Office bulletin, issued this morning, said mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of  Rangamati,  Srimangal,  Rajshahi,  Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Satkhira, Jashore & Chuadanga and it may continue at places over the northwestern part of the country.

In its next 72-hour forecast, the Met Office says temperature may rise further.

It also forecasted that the weather will remain dry over the country.

Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country from midnight to morning, according to the forecast.

Night and day temperature may rise slightly over the country, it says.

The met office regular bulletin also reads ridge of Sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.

The sun sets at 5:47pm on Thursday, according to the Met Office forecast, while it rises at 6:38 am on Friday in Dhaka.
