Cold wave continues to grip different parts of the country

Likely to abate at some places from Wednesday

The sweeping cold wave may continue in some parts of Bangladesh until tomorrow (Wednesday), according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Abdul Mannan, a meteorologist at BMD told The Financial Express on Tuesday noon that a mild to moderate cold is sweeping over some parts of the country and will continue until Wednesday.

However, the cold snap may abate at some places of the country from Wednesday, he added.

Today's lowest temperature was recorded at 6.3 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga district.

A Met Office bulletin, issued this morning, said a mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Barishal divisions and the regions of Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Kishorgonj, Mymensingh, Sandwip, Sitakunda, Rangamati, Cumilla, Hatiya, Srimongal, Satkhira, Jashore & Kushtia and it may abate at some places.

In its next 72-hour forecast, the Met Office says that night temperature may rise further.

It also forecasted that the weather may remain dry over the country.

Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins of the country and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country from midnight to morning, according to the forecast.

Night and day temperature may rise by (1-2) degree Celsius over the country, it says.

The met office regular bulletin also reads Ridge of Sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay

The sun sets at 5:46 pm on Tuesday, according to the Met Office forecast, while it rises at 6:39 am on Wednesday in Dhaka.
