Coast Guard arrests six Myanmar nationals with Yaba tablets

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 300,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and arrested six Myanmar nationals from the southeastern side of Chhera dwip near Saint Martin's Island of Teknaf in Cox'sbazar on Wednesday afternoon.

Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said, acting on a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard conducted a drive in the Bay of Bengal around 1:10pm and challenged a fishing boat.

Searching the fishing boat, the law enforcers recovered 3 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets worth around Tk 15 crore. They detained six Myanmar nationals from the boat.

With the recovery of the yaba pills, the number of seized Yaba tablets rose to 6.20 lakh within a week, said Lt Commander Abdullah Al Maruuf, Assistant Director (Intelligence) of the Coast Guard Headquarters, reports UNB.
