A Chattogram court on Monday placed Tanzila Haque Chowdhury Mitu, wife of physician Mustafa Murshed Akash, on a three-day remand in a case filed over his reported suicide.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Al Imran passed the order following a hearing on her remand petition.

Earlier on Saturday, police sought a seven-day remand for her, said Mizanur Rahman, additional deputy police commissioner of CMP, according to a UNB report.

Chandgaon Police Station Assistant Sub-inspector Abdul Kader, who is also the investigation officer assigned to the case, prayed for the remand to Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (South) Md Mijanur Rahman said that police are investigating Mitu's alleged instigation in her husband's death.

33-year-old Akash, who completed MBBS from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), reportedly killed himself over family feud in Chandgaon residential area in the port city after an altercation with his wife about her alleged illicit affairs early Friday.

Family members said, before his apparent suicide, Akash had shared photos of his wife on his Facebook profile and wrote about her alleged extramarital affairs before announcing the decision to end his own life.

Akash's mother Jobeda Khanam filed the case with Chandgaon Police Station in Chattogram on Friday night accusing Mitu, Mitu's father Anisul Haque Chowdhury and mother Shamim Shelly, sister Sanzila Haque Chowdhury, her alleged boyfriends Mahbubul Haque, and an Indian citizen referred only as Patel.
