CIID officials detain Malaysian man with 10 gold bars at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials arrested a Malaysian national along with 10 gold bars worth Tk 27.4 million from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early Sunday.

The arrestee was identified as Looi Koon Hong, 33, UNB reports.

Director General of CIID Dr Mohammad Shahidul Islam said a flight of Malindo Air landed at the airport around 1 am.

Tipped off, a team of CIID took position at the green channel of the airport and challenged Koon Hong. They recovered four gold bars, weighing 1 kg each and 6 gold bars, weighing 1.48 kg from the shoes of Hong.
