The inquiry committee formed to investigate the reasons for the fatal accident at BRT project site held the Chinese contractor responsible for the incident.
The committee, in its report submitted on Thursday to Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary, also found some of the project's construction supervision consultants and project office responsible for the accident.
The committee, however, did not find the project office Road and Highways Department directly responsible for the accident as they have tried to alert the Chinese company China Gezhouba Group Company several times.
Disclosing all these during a briefing at the conference room of Ministry of Road transport and bridges, Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri said the consultants since January 2022 issued several letters to the Chinese company to ensure various safety measures.
Regarding punishment of the company, the secretary said the committee does have the right of recommending punishment according to terms of reference.
He said the procurement head is the responsible to give any action against the contractor.
