A driver of a truck died and two others sustained injuries when the stone-laden truck hit a covered van at Fouzdarhat Jalil Textile Gate on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila of the port city on early Thursday.
Rafiq Ahmed Majumdar, In-Charge of Fouzdarhat Police camp, said the accident occurred around 2am when the truck driver lost control over the steering following punctures in two wheels of the vehicle.
Mohammad Arif (46), hailing from Tangail district, died on the spot while two helpers of the truck got injured, says a UNB report.
The injured helpers-Foysal and Hasan-were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.
