The district administration has decided to put Chandpur under complete lockdown from Thursday evening to limit the transmission of coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Md Mazedur Rahman announced the decision after a meeting of Coronavirus Control and Prevention District Committee.
“The lockdown will come into effect at 7pm,” a public notice issued in this regard said. “It will be effective until further notice.”
Meanwhile, 177 people were sent to home-quarantine in the district, said Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shakhawat Ullah, as per a UNB report.
Currently, three patients with symptoms of coronavirus are undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Chandpur General Hospital, he added.
Bangladesh has seen a rise in coronavirus cases in recent days. On Thursday, the country reported 112 new cases and one death. So far, the country has recorded 330 cases – 21 of them have died.
