Corona vaccine crisis has been prevailing all over Chandpur district resulting in annoyance and much suffering to people keenly interested to have the jabs.

A large number of men and women who came from far off places in Chandpur Sadar to have vaccine shots, returned home disappointed from the vaccine centres in Chandpur Sadar Hospital.

Hasina Begum, 45, Biplob Saha, 50, and his wife Ranjita Saha, 35, of Puranbazar in the town said they returned home disappointed from vaccine centre at Chandpur Sadar Hospital as vaccine pushing was suspended.

Fiya Khatun, 70, of Luxmipur village and Rafiqul Islam, 50, from the Mohamaya area in ChandpurSadar also were seen going back disappointed from the Sadar Hospital Vaccine centres. The same information was received from UZ Health Complexes, too.

Civil Surgeon Dr M Shakhawatullah told the FE that vaccine pushing was suspended from Tuesday at Chandpur Sadar Hospital due to jab crisis. "Our stock of vaccines is exhausted," he said.

“It is expected that we would get vaccines soon and then pushing of 1st and 2nd doses of vaccines will resume. Actually, people have got themselves registered for vaccination more than our stock and so the vaccine crisis is prevailing”, he added. “Soon the problem will be solved when vaccines will be provided to us from Health Directorate”, he hoped.

In Faridganj, vaccination pushing had been suspended since Sunday for want of jabs, said a responsible staff Nazrul Islam. From today vaccine pushing was also suspended in Kochua UZ Health Complex, said UHFPO (UZ Health & Family Planning Officer) Dr Salehuddin Mahmud adding that the vaccine stock was exhausted.

When contacted, the same reply was heard from Dr Nusrat Jahan in Matlab Uttar, Dr Golam Kaoser Himel in Matlab Dakshin, and Dr Shoyeb Ahmed Chisty at Hajiganj Upazila Health Complexes. In Haimchar UZ, Dr Belayet Hossain said vaccine stock in Haimchar UZ Health Complex is almost exhausted.

The same is the case with Upazila Health Complex in Shahrasti Upazila.
