Call to withdraw transport strike in people’s interest

Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity secretary general Mozammel Haque Chowdhury on Monday urged the transport workers to call off their strike to end public sufferings.

He came up with the call in a statement issued on Monday.

“People have become hostage to a group of miscreants in the name of transport workers and are being harassed by them. In this situation, the role of the law enforcement agencies as silent spectators is also frustrating,” said the statement.

Mozammel Haque urged them to resolve their problem through talks with the authorities concerned, reports UNB.

In his statement, Mozammel Haque mentioned that Bangladesh Road Transport Federation, which has enforced the strike, was a member of the Road Transport Act-2018 formulation committee.

People continued to suffer as the countrywide transport strike demanding amendments to the recently passed Road Transport Act entered the second day on Monday.
