High officials of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) underscored the need for infusing dynamism into the activities of Victim Support Center (VSC) for welfare of the children and women victims.
All the government and non-government entities concerned should come forward and work together to bring all the children and women victims under the VSC services. Launched at the compound of Shahmukhdum Police Station in 2013, the VSC provided services to 153 women and children victims during the first six months of this year.
They made this observation while addressing the 14th steering committee meeting of VSC at RMP Headquarters conference hall in the city on Wednesday.
Chaired by RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioners Tanveer Haider Chowdhury, Ameer Jafar, Hemayetul Islam and Joynal Abedeen.
Representatives of various partner NGOs like BLAST, Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, BNWLA, Marie Stopes and ACD joined the meeting.
Hafiz Akter told the meeting that Bangladesh Police has established the victim support centre in a bid to reach victims living in remote areas.
