Cabinet body approves DWASA project contracts involving Tk 9.06b

Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase has approved contracts under three projects involving Tk 9.06 billion for improvement of Dhaka city's water and sewerage system.

The committee approved the proposals of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Dhaka WASA) at a meeting on Wednesday, with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair.

Briefing about the meeting outcomes, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division Mustafizur Rahman informed that the committee approved a proposal of the Dhaka WASA to appoint a consultant at a cost of Tk 677.6 million for design, management and supervision works of the water supply improvement project.

The committee gave nod to tender proposal of WASA to award a Tk 4.49 billion contract to Joint Venture of Navana and Protiva Limited for the water supply network improvement work under Wasa MODS (management, operations, distribution, and services) Zone-3, 4 and 10.

Another contract of Tk 3.89 billion for similar works of water supply network improvement under MODS Zone -9 was awarded to China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau.

The committee approved a proposal of the Industries Ministry to import 25,000 mt of urea fertilizer at a cost of Tk 727.6 million while each metric ton of fertliser will cost $349.20. Business firm M/s Hydro Carbon won the contract.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved a proposal to award the contract for 505 acres of land at Mirsarai economic zones under direct procurement method.

It also approved another proposal to award contracts for event management jobs under direct procurement method to celebrate Bangladesh's graduation from least developed country (LDC) status, which the government plans to celebrate on March 22-23at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre and Radisson Blue Hotel in the city.
