Bus services resume across country

Bus services resumed on Monday morning after several days of suspension amid student protests across the country, including Dhaka city.

Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Samity on Sunday night decided to operate buses from Monday morning.

Buses were seen plying streets in the capital in the morning as usual.

Besides, long route buses also left city Saidabad, Mahakhali and Gabtali bus terminals, said Kazi Wazed, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari police station.

Amid the growing student movement over a nine-point demand, including ensuring safety on roads and resignation of Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, transport owners had suspended the bus services in the capital and on long-routes for an indefinite period, according to UNB news agency.

On July 29, DiyaKhanam Mim and Abdul KarimRajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as a 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' bus ploughed into some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road which sparked off protests among the students across the country.
