At least two people have died and 20 others suffered injuries after a bus carrying them aboard plunged into a roadside ditch at Sadar upazila in Gopalganj.
The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam, 40, a senior officer (cash) at the BASIC Bank hailing from the upazila's Sultanshahi village, and Momena Begum, 25, daughter of Shahid Mollah from Purbapara village in Kotalipara upazila.
According to police, the accident took place at around 9:30am on the Gopalganj-Kotalipara road in Khanarpara.
Sadar police station's Sub-Inspector Sirajul Islam was quoted by UNB news agency as saying, "
"The bus fell into a roadside ditch, killing two persons on the spot."
The injured have been admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.
