JOYPURHAT, July 09: Bumper Aus paddy output is likely in Joypurhat district due to favourable weather condition and timely supply of necessary agri-input.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) source motivational incentives have been distributed among the eager farmers to create strong desire this season.
DAE again said, getting the assistance from government, they have exceeded Aus, emergency paddy variety, farming this season across the region.
"I have been inspired much during the current season to bring cropland under Aus farming getting special incentives," said farmer Abul Hossain, 43, under Akkelpur upazila.
He also said, "I have been given 20 kg urea, 10 kg DAP, 5 kg Aus rice seed, and 10 kg MoP along with Tk 500 for irrigating Aus paddy for each bigha of land."
Meanwhile, over 200 interested farmers have been distributed 5 kg Nerico Aus rice seed, 20 kg urea, 10 kg DAP and 10 kg MoP fertilisers and Tk 500 cash for irrigating Aus rice field. Some Tk 500 for weed control for the same amount of land.
The farmers are intentionally waiting to harvest early varieties of Aus paddy in Akkelpur, Khetlal, Kalai, Pachbibi and sadar upazilas of the district.
The Boro paddy is being sold at Tk 1000 to 1300 each maund according to quality and farmers are expecting to sell each maund of fresh Aus paddy at Tk 1200 to 1400.
Cultivation of short duration Aus paddy farming begins after harvesting Boro paddy and before T-Aman seedling transplantation, is getting popular among the peasants as its cultivation is proved to the farmers as more lucrative.
DAE Deputy Director Sudhindranath Roy said distribution of motivational incentive and technical support inspired the farmers massively to bring new cropland under less irrigation water consuming Aus paddy this season.
