CHATTOGRAM: Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said they will not allow the building of a private hospital in the CRB area if the people of Chattogram don't want so.

"On her return from abroad, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take a decision in this regard," the railway minister said when Nagorik Samaj submitted a memorandum to him during his visit to Chattogram Monday.

Member-Secretary of Nagorik Samaj and Awami League leader Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul submitted the memorandum to the minister.

He said, "We hope that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not stand against the demand of the people of Chattogram."

Nagorik Samaj in its memorandum also said, "Central Railway Building (CRB) is considered an oxygen centre of the city. If any hospital or structure is constructed here, the environment will be affected seriously."

"We hope that the prime minister will cancel the deal signed with United Group to build the hospital in the CRB area."

It may be mentioned that the people of Chattogram get united against the decision on the construction of a private hospital in the CRB area. Protest against the decision on the construction of the private hospital is getting louder. Different socio-cultural and political organisations including Awami League and Communist Party of Bangladesh, freedom fighters and green activists continued their protests at the government move to build a hospital and other structures in the CRB area.
