BSTI destroys 4,000 substandard water jars

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Tuesday destroyed a total of 4,000 substandard water jars in different parts of the capital.

The jars were torn down as they were being marketed in unhygienic and dirty environment.

The BSTI surveillance team in sudden drives dismantled the jars in the city's Ramna, Fakirapool, Banglabazar, Motijheel, Kaptan Bazar, Nababpur, English Road and Babubazar Bridge, Kadamtali and Shahidnagar areas, according to a statement.

The team also seized different types of equipment used for the marketing purpose, it said.

Different hotels and shops in those areas were asked not to preserve and sell such water jars, the statement added.
