A Bangladeshi young man was tortured to death allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Satkhira border, the victim's family claimed on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kabirul Islam, 32, son of Aziz Mollah of Chhoygharia village in Sadar upazila.
Aziz said his son went to India's Dudli area on Friday night and BSF members caught him while he was returning home.
"They tortured him, poured petrol into his mouth and dumped Kabirul along the border when he fell ill," he said.
Kabirul was taken to Sadar Hospital around midnight where doctors pronounced him dead, reports UNB.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Mostafizur Rahman said there were several injury marks on his body.
Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar of Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion 33 said they heard about the incident but were yet to get details.
"BSF has told us they didn't detain any Bangladeshi last night," he said.
