BSF shoots Bangladeshi dead along Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi national was gunned down by the members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India along Daikhawa border in Hatibandha upazila early Saturday.

The deceased was Shafikul Islam, 22, a cattle trader and son of Jainal Abedin hailing from Amjhol village of the upazila.

Lt Col Golam Morshed, director of BGB Battalion Lalmonirhat-15 said BSF members of 100-Paglibari camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders when they went to bring cows through the border around 4am, leaving Shafikul dead on the spot.

The BSF members took away the body, said Gotamari UP chairman Abul Kashem Sabu, according to UNB report.

BGB sent a letter to BSF to return the body.
