BSF describes Bangladesh-India border as ‘very complex’ border

Border Security Force (BSF) has described Bangladesh-India border as a very complex border due to close proximity, ethnic and cultural similarities of the population living on both sides of the border.

All of these issues make the border sensitive which poses a serious challenge to guard the border, said BSF Inspector General Rajesh Kumar on Monday, reports The Economic Times.

“Relations between the two border guard forces of India and Bangladesh are cordial and both of them are putting in their best efforts to promote bilateral relations,” the BSF chief said.

“This mutual understanding and cooperation between BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has helped in resolving many border issues on the border besides maintaining peace and tranquility,” he added.

He also mentioned that a total of 12 Bangladeshi nationals crossed border inadvertently were handed over to the BGB as a gesture of goodwill and on humanitarian grounds.

Kumar added the BGB and BSF are carrying out day and night simultaneous coordinated patrols to control smuggling and trans-border crimes.
