Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has marginally witnessed a drop in cases filed and fines realised for violating traffic rules in November compared to October of 2020.

BRTA filed 1,511 cases and realised over Tk 2.31 million in fines in November as against 1,615 cases and more than Tk 2.60 million in fines in October last year, according to a monthly report of the transport regulator.

However, the BRTA report shows, the number of mobile court drives it had led was 235 in both the months.

A total of 12 vehicles were dumped and nine people jailed for violating traffic rules in November, adds the report, while 18 vehicles were dumped and 32 were jailed in October 2020.

The BRTA conducts mobile court drives regularly across the country with a view to bringing discipline and order on the roads.
