BR penalises 245 passengers for travelling without tickets

The Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities fined 245 passengers of eight trains Tk 88,410 for travelling without tickets on different routes under Lalmonirhat railway division on Thursday.

"BR officials, let by Lalmonirhat divisional manager Nazmul Islam, conducted the special ticket checking drives in eight trains at different stations," said Sajjad Hossain, BR assistant traffic superintendent at Lalmonirhat railway division.

During the drives, he said, the BR officials found that 245 passengers of the eight trains, including Lalmoni Express, Rangpur Express, Ekota Express and Drutojan Express, were travelling without tickets and fined them Tk 88,410 on the spots, reports BSS from Rangpur.

"The special ticket checking drives will continue on different routes under Lalmonirhat railway division in future, "Sajjad said.
