BPC launches Padma Bridge tour package

The Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) launched Padma Bridge tour package on Wednesday to facilitate travel of holidaymakers centring the country's largest bridge.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali inaugurated the service at a ceremony - held on the BPC premises in the city's Agargaon area, a statement said.

Secretary to Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain, BPC Chairman Md. Ali Kadar, Bangladesh Tourism Board Acting Chief Executive Officer Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber and other high officials were present at the opening ceremony.

Inaugurating the service, Md Mahbub Ali said the Padma Bridge construction paved the way to flourish tourism in the country's south-west region.

Tourists from home and abroad can now visit Kuakata sea beach, the Sundarbans and other tourist spots in the southern region in a short time - thanks to the mega structure.

The BPC would establish a number of tourism attractions on both sides of the Padma Bridge to flourish tourism in the region, he also said.

"The Padma Bridge is part of our history, which has glorified the nation's image in the world."
