Boro farmers receive Tk 1.7b government incentives

The government is providing Tk 1.7 billion as incentives to the country’s farmers for the cultivation and production of Boro paddy.

A total of 2.7 million farmers across the country are getting free seeds and fertilisers under the incentives.

The farmers are receiving incentives from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector in the regular budget of the Ministry of Agriculture.

About 50 per cent of incentives have been disbursed so far.

Some 1.5 million farmers are getting free 2.0 kg of paddy seeds under the incentive of around  820 million ( 82 crore) to increase the production of hybrid paddy.

A  total of 1.2 million farmers are being benefited under the incentive package of about Tk 730 million ( 73 crore) for increasing the production of high-yielding varieties.

Besides, a farmer is getting 5.0 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser required to cultivate one bigha land.

Besides, farmers are getting an incentive package of Tk 150 million (15 crore)  for simultaneous planting and harvesting paddy in a field to facilitate the use of agricultural machinery.

Under this, 110 blocks or exhibitions will be set up in 61 districts across the country. Each exhibition will take place on 50 acres of land, and the cost is estimated at  Tk 1.37 million for every exhibition.
