Border violence kills 42 Bangladeshis in Jan-Nov

A total of 42 Bangladeshis were killed in violence-related incidents along the country's border from January to November of 2020, according to a local independent rights body.

The Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) report noted that 35 people were shot dead while six others succumbed to physical torture in the border areas in first 11 months of the year.

Some 22 persons were also abducted during the same period in the border while 22 others were injured, the report added.

Besides, five abducted victims returned home, the report mentioned.

The ASK report said that a total of 43 Bangladeshis were killed in incidents of violence along the borders in 2019 while the number was 14 in 2018.

The ASK prepared the data based on the published reports of some renowned national and regional daily newspapers in the country.
