Border killing a shame for India, says foreign minister

Killing Bangladeshis on the Indo-Bangladesh border by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) is a shame for India, said Dr A. K. Abdul Momen on Sunday.

He was addressing a press conference on the 23rd Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) and the 21st Meeting of the Council of Ministers (COM) of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), to be held on November 15-16 in the capital.

Responding to a question the minister said that India had assured Bangladesh time and again that they would not use any lethal weapon on the border.

" These assurances come from their highest level. But despite such assertion, the killing by the BSF continues which is unfortunate for us and a shame for India", he said.

Responding to another question he said Bangladesh do not want to see the dominance of any single power in the Indo Pacific Ocean.

“We have made it clear that we want to see a free, peaceful and open Indo-Pacific region”, the minister said.
