The teacher has been identified as 53-year old Abdur Rashid, a resident of Dumuria village of the same upazila. He was the headmaster of Dumuria Government Primary School.
Local people found Rashid dead, not far from his home, and alerted the police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue.
“Rashid came out of his house at night and has remained missing since,” said Abu Sayeed Md Wahiduzzaman, chief of Alamdighi Police Station, citing his family.
Police said the several stabbing wounds were seen on his body.
Police arrested two suspects -- Abdur Razzak and his wife Afroza Begum, both residents of the same village.
“Rashid had an extramarital affair with Afroza. For this, as much as Tk 100,000 was realised from him in a village arbitration,” said Wahiduzzaman.
