Blockade on bus services from Dhaka to north via Bogra

Transport workers have blocked bus services via Bogra protesting against the shutdown of two transport counters in the capital Dhaka.

The association of motor vehicle workers and owners in Dhaka shut two counters of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan at Dhaka’s Gabtoli and Mohakhali on Tuesday, according to the company’s Manager Aminul Islam Mondol.

To protest against the move, Bogra Motor Workers’ Union has decided to block bus services via Bogra. The decision was taken at a meeting on Tuesday night.

Buses that ply through Bogra to reach 11 districts in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions could not enter Bogra on Wednesday.

Dhaka-bound buses from these districts were also barred from making their way through the northern district. Local buses, however, moved freely inside the district, reports bdnews24.

No buses will be allowed to use the Dhaka-Bogra route until authorities reopen the counters of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan in Dhaka and settle the matter, said Aminul’s father Abdul Latif Mondol, president of the Bogra motor workers’ union.

He, however, did not mention why the counters were shut down.
