The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended the river transport services on all routes as cyclonic storm Fani is likely to hit the country on Friday.
The weekly holiday of all BIWTA officials were also cancelled to tackle the disaster, local media reported quoting State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Thursday,
According to a weather forecast, Khulna and adjoining southwestern coastal areas are likely to feel the peripheral effect of ‘Fani’ by Friday morning.
