Biman hijack probe body gets two more days

The probe committee formed to look into the attempted hijack of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft has been given two more days to complete its task.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary M Mohibul Haque Sunday said the decision was taken considering the 'sensitivity and importance' of the matter, reports UNB.

Earlier on February 24, the ministry formed the five-member probe committee, headed by Additional Secretary Md Mokabbir Hossain, to investigate the attempt to hijack the Biman aircraft.

The committee was supposed to submit its report within five working days which ends on Monday.

Foiling his alleged bid to hijack the Biman aircraft, members of joint forces killed a miscreant at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on February 24.

Later, the ministry constituted the probe panel to look into the incident.

The other members of the committee are joint secretary Zanendra Nath Sarker, Director (Flight Safety & Regulations) of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Wing Commander Chy M Zia UlKabir, Director (Planning) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Air Commodore (retd) Mahbub Jahan Khan and Caab Senior Security Consultant Group Captain (retd) Md Alamgir.
