Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) ranked 102 among 142 top think tanks of the world, according to the 2017 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.
Prepared and published by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, it also put BIDS at 112 among 142 non-US think tanks worldwide.
The Brookings Institution of the United States became the Think Tank of the Year 2017 or Top Think Tank in the World, according to the index released last month.
Moreover, the report showed that BIDS stood 16th among 100 top think tanks in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
Nine other think tanks of the country got place on the top global think tank index.
Those think tanks are (20) Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS); (47) Alternative Development Initiative (ADI); (52) Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD);
(53) Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI); (54) Institute for Governance Studies (IGS); (55) Associates for Community and Population Research (ACPR); (57) Institute for Policy, Advocacy, and Governance (IPAG);
(62) Institute of Social Welfare and Research (ISWR); (84) Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP); and (91) Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI).
Again, among 132 top international development think tanks, BIDS came in at 26th while CPD held 88th position on the list.
