BGB troops deployed in 22 districts after attacks on Hindu temples

In the wake of attacks on Hindu temples, Bangladesh has deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in 22 districts to ensure the security during the Durga Puja. 

In response to the demand of district administrations and under the direction of the Ministry of Home  Affairs, BGB members are being deployed in different districts across the country to ensure security, said a media release.

So far, the required number of BGB members have been deployed in 22 districts including Comilla, it said.

The para-military force will also be deployed in the capital if there is a demand from the concerned authorities, said Lt Col Faizur Rahman, director (operation) of BGB, in the statement on Thursday.
