BGB rescues nine Bangladeshis from Benapole border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued nine Bangladeshi nationals while being trafficked to India through Sadipur frontier in Benapole on Friday.

Among them, five are women and two children. They hail from different parts of Faridpur, Narail and Bagerhat districts.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 conducted a drive in the area and rescued the nine people in the morning, said Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB-49.

They were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, reports UNB.

However, none was arrested as the traffickers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the border guards.

A case was filed in this connection.
