BGB recovered smuggled goods of Tk 9.03b last year

Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in its countrywide drive last year recovered smuggled goods and contraband items worth Tk 9.03billion, says a BSS report citing a release.

The smuggled contraband drugs included: 1,26,58,518 pieces of yaba tablets, 3,59,150 bottles of phensidyl, 79,286 bottles of foreign wines, 13,682 kg of cannabis, 33.51 kg of heroin, 8,34,695 pieces of sex-stimulating tablets and 19,448 seductive injections.

While the smuggled goods are 195.789 kg gold, 93,800 pieces of sharees, 26,085 pieces of three pieces, 1,18,836 meter of clothes, 43,059 readymade dresses and 2,38,502 CFT wood during the period.

The para-military border watchdog also seized 63 pistols, eight shutter guns, four one point gun, one AK-47 rifle, three revolvers, 10 pieces of air pistols, 11 air guns, three pipe guns, one two points gun, 76 magazines, 372 bullets, 56 crude bombs, 12 different other bombs, 504 kg sulfur, 10 pieces of Newtel-90 9explosive), 17 detonators and 28.100 gram gunpowder, the release added.

It also detained 2,705 people for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling and 1,316 others for illegally crossing Bangladesh territory.
