BGB hands over detained Myanmar BGP man

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday handed over a detained member of Border Guard Police (BGP) to Myanmar officials.

BGP man Ang Bon Thing, hailing from Yangun of Myanmar, was detained for intruding into Bangladesh territory through Bhallukkhaia at Naikhangchhari bordering area of Bandarban on January 24.

The handover ceremony was held following a flag meeting between the two neighbouring countries' border forces at the zero point near Ghumdhum border around 11:00pm, said Lt Col Ali Haidar Azad, commanding officer of BGB-34.

Ang was a member of BGP Battalion-287 and was attached to Bendula Camp in Myanmar which is situated just opposite to Naikhangchhari border in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
