The number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Bangladesh surged to 204,525 on Sunday as the country registered 2,459 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 37 more people died from Covid-19 during the period, the health directorate said.
With the latest, the death toll from the lethal disease now stands at 2,618.
Nasima Sultana, additional director general (admin) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin.
The fresh coronavirus infections were found after testing a total of 10,625 samples in 80 labs, she said.
Besides, the recovery count also jumped to 111,642 after 1,546 patients were recovered during the period under review.
Globally, 14,440,011 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 605,142 people died as of Sunday noon, according to the worldometer.
Of them, 5,209,119 are currently being treated with 60,095 remain in serious or critical condition.
So far, 8,625,750 people have recovered.
