BD Muslim millennials discuss Islamic economy aplenty on social media

Bangladeshi Muslim millennials, people aged between 18 and 35, rank fourth in using social media to interact on Islamic economy related topics, according to an estimate.

Data from the most popular social media platforms were analysed in the ‘State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2017-18’ to gather social media insights into millennials’ interactions on Islamic economy.

A total of 685,000 social media interactions were captured in addition to 110,000 social media mentions.

“In aggregate, 77 per cent of interactions were positive,” it said.

Pakistan topped the ranking with 105,700 interactions, followed by India, Bangladesh and the United States with 99,800, 58,300 and 52,600 interactions, respectively.

“Pakistan, India and Bangladesh together represent 39 per cent of the total interactions captured,” said the report prepared by Thomson Reuters.

“Islamic Finance and Media saw the most interactions (300,000 out of 685,000), followed by Modest Fashion and Travel,” it added.
