BD High Commission in London celebrates graduation eligibility

Bangladesh High Commission in London has recently celebrated Bangladesh's eligibility to graduate to a developing country from the group of least developed country in Baden-Powell House in Central London.

Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh at the UK Houses of Parliament Anne Main MP, was present as the guest of honour while Head of South Asia Department of UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office Fergus Auld and Senior Governance Adviser for Bangladesh of UK DFID Joel Harding were present as Special guests.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK Md Nazmul Quaunine chaired the programme, according to a press release on Friday.

The Commercial Counsellor of the Mission SM Jakaria Huq presented the keynote paper highlighting the context, triggers behind Bangladesh's successes, challenges and prospects for the future, reports UNB.

British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (BBCC), UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI), Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA), and Welsh Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (WBCC) were represented, among others, in the celebration as business bodies based in the UK.

The guests included leaders of the community, journalists, business, media, academia, cultural activists and other dignitaries. About 200 people attended the celebrations.

A cultural programme was also held at the end to showcase the rich heritage of Bangladesh.
