BD Ambassador urges community to join development journey

Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands Sheikh Mohammed Belal has urged the members of Bangladesh community to join the development journey of Bangladesh.

He also put the importance on inculcating the spirit of nationalism and liberation war among the future generations for representing Bangladesh in the future.

The Ambassador was addressing a discussion marking Victory Day in The Hague on Saturday, said a press release on Sunday.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands Sheikh Mohammed Belal paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled the sacrifices of the four national leaders, freedom fighters and Biranganas for the liberation of Bangladesh.

He mentioned few instances on how Bangabandhu has been working as a source of inspiration, even after his demise, towards achieving our long cherished goal of Sonar Bangla.

Bangladesh Embassy in The Hague celebrated the 47th Victory Day with due solemnity and festivity on the Embassy premises.

The programme was commenced with the hoisting of National Flag at full mast by Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal.

A large number of Bangladesh community living in the Netherlands and the officials of the Embassy along with their members of family attended the ceremony.

One minute silence was observed in honour of the martyred freedom fighters who sacrificed their invaluable lives during the Liberation War in 1971.

Homage was also paid to late Minister Sayedul Hoque, freedom fighter and former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Mayor (North) of Dhaka Annisul Huq, according to UNB report.

Later, a colourful cultural programme was organised on the Chancery premises, where the expatriate community as well as members of family of the officials of the Embassy enthusiastically took part.

The artistes sang patriotic songs, performed traditional folk dance and poems commemorating the Victory Day and the spirit of Liberation War.
