BD adds 2,772 Covid cases, 28 deaths in daily count

Confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Bangladesh reached 237,661 on Friday, a rise of 2,772 from the previous day, while related deaths increased by 28 to 3,111; according to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Additional Director General (Admin) of DGHS Dr Nasima Sultana presented the latest figures while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin at 2:30pm today.

The fresh coronavirus infections were found after testing 12,614 samples across the country, she said.

Among the newly deceased, 22 were male and the rest were female.

Also, 2,176 more patients have recovered from the disease during the 24-hour period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 135,136.

Globally, 17,491,892 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 677,097 people died as of Friday noon, according to the Worldometer.

Of the infected, 5,860,834 are currently being treated with 66,352 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 10,953,961 people have recovered.
